dc.description.abstract	Japanese Buddhism developed a debate on the role of nature based on the imported schools from China, from where the name itself of nature was taken. However, in the 13th century, Dōgen gave an original turn to the conception of nature as the locus of enlightenment. The Sōtō school evolved from his teaching recently developed a new perspective influenced by Western concerns for nature and its relation with society.
