abstract

After several years of work dedicated to the preroman necropolis of Este, thanks to new findings we tried to trace the birth and the evolution of one well known atestine artefact, the bronze lozenge belt, important item (as the less common rectangle belt) of ceremonial women’s clothing. Both types were in use from the half of the 5th century BC to the half of the 4th century BC. We focused too on the many interesting sides of manufactoring and decoration.
