dc.description.abstract	This essay explains the reasons behind a dictionary of Italian gestures in an intercultural perspective. After discussing the notion of communicative competence, the critical points of non-verbal communication are highlighted, with a special focus on kinesics. Their implications in the making of intercultural communicative competence will be discusses as well. The description of the theoretical bases of the dictionary of Italian gestures is supplemented by some videos showing the gestures included in the dictionary.

abstract

This essay explains the reasons behind a dictionary of Italian gestures in an intercultural perspective. After discussing the notion of communicative competence, the critical points of non-verbal communication are highlighted, with a special focus on kinesics. Their implications in the making of intercultural communicative competence will be discusses as well.
