Research Article | Italian Teaching and the Image of Italy in Cameroon
Abstract
Sistema Italia is the interaction between the economic, productive, political, social and cultural dimensions. It refers to the image and the values that language and culture can represent abroad. The Italian language has been taught in Cameroon for almost twenty years and has recently been introduced in local schools. This research is intended to determine whether the increase in demand for Italian in Cameroon depends on the possible values that this language can convey. The discussion of the didactic aspects and of the social marketability of Italian in view of the socio-economic situation of the country shows that the motivations that lead to the study of this language have changed over time, based on the image of Italy and consequently of its language/culture.
