abstract

The fragments of the poros block in which the so-called ‘laws of Eretria’ are inscribed were found in 1912 in the harbour of the ancient town. The inscription, datable to the last quarter of the sixth century BC, has an enormous documentary value both for the history of Eretria and for the history of coinage in the Greek world.
