abstract
The PhD programme in Ancient History and Archaeology, now merged into the one in Antiquity in agreement with Udine and Trieste, has represented, at Ca’ Foscari, an important moment of growth in the field of antiquity with the formation of a group of young scholars who are active and appreciated in various fields, in Italy and abroad. This volume brings together the contributions of two seminars developed by PhD students on common themes, one on the role of elites, the other on that of the sacred, between antiquity and the Middle Ages. It is a testimony to the work carried out and edited by the doctoral students, a moment of training that today finds its tradition in the new doctorate.
